African Indigenous Bar Soaps
The Victorian Garden's African Indigenous bar Soaps offer you a natural alternative to the often irritating, petrochemical and detergent based personal care products now in general use. They are a wonderful alternative to commercial bath soaps which contain lots of animal fat/glycerine. The Victorian way of making handmade cold processed bar soaps is not used much today and most commercial soaperies use the “hot” method of soap making. We also make exquisite natural/organic liquid soap too if you prefer to have a liquid soap in a dispenser. An old fashioned and unique step in the making of Victorian soaps removes excess alkali from the bars, creating a super mild bar soap which can be used even for the most sensitive skin and most soaps are classified as Vegan Friendly (marked with a V), and all soaps are Vegetarian Friendly. Almost all ingredients derive from plant based renewable resources, which are farmed and processed without chemicals, in a sustainable, Fair Trade manner.
Each opaque soap bar is enriched with Shea Butter and one or more cold pressed vegetable oils and fragranced with pure essential oils or flower extracts from indigenous wild African plants. Soft colours are achieved by using organic pigments, dried flowers or natural herbs e.g. Rose Petals, Lavender Flowers, Poppy Seeds, Rooibos leaves, Bran etc. Using these natural soaps will recondition your skin leaving it smooth and moisturized and because of the high oil content, the soaps do not dry the skin or alter the skin's natural pH balance. Our soaps contain no detergents and no harmful petrochemicals and our experienced soapmaker uses natural high quality food grade ingredients and excludes Titanium Dioxide at our request, which is used in most soaps as a whitener. Instead we use milk powder to whiten the soaps.
