HOT TIPS ORGANIC GARDENERS !

Here are some easy and earth-friendly green gardening tips:

START A WORMERY

We're told you this in a previous tip ( click here ). The reason we're reiterating the point is that this natural compost is a much better alternative to chemical fertilizers.

GO ORGANIC
Look for organic brands of pesticides. Alternatively you can plant certain varieties of plants which attract beneficial insects to your garden, or make your own natural pesticides (we'll feature some natural recipes in an upcoming tip).

FEED THE BIRDS
Provided you don't have cats, try to attract as many birds as you can into your garden by hanging up feeders. Not only will they make your garden more beautiful, but they also have the added benefit of eating pests.

WATER EFFICIENTLY
Plan to water your garden around the weather forecast, so you don't end up watering hours before it rains. It is also a good idea to water in the evenings as it is cooler and less of the water evaporates from the heat. You may want to consider installing an irrigation system with a timer system, as this can save you quite a lot of water.

COLLECT RAINWATER OR USE GREY WATER
Using a rain barrel is not only easy and cost effective, but the water is also free from chlorine and minerals, so its better for your garden. Click here to read our previous tip on using grey water in your garden.

PLANT INDIGENOUS ONLY
Plants native to your area naturally need less water, attract fewer bugs and are easier to take care of.

MAKE YOUR OWN…
Planters with old empty plastic and glass containers. Saves you throwing them in the rubbish, and saves you money too!

USE MULCH
Mulch can be anything that is laid over the soil in your garden. If you use attractive materials, it will enhance the look of your garden, and other benefits include retaining water and driving away pesky insects. Organic mulch will also help to fertilise your soil as it decomposes (but it will have to be replaced after awhile)

“As the clay is in the Potter’s hand, so are
you in my hand.”

You are what you eat, so eat well. A stupendous insight of civilizations past has now been confirmed by today's investigative, nutritional sciences. They have shown that what was once called 'The Doctrine of Signatures' is astoundingly correct. It now contends that every whole food has a pattern that resembles a body organ or physiological function and that this pattern acts as a signal or sign as to the benefit the food provides the eater.  CLICK HERE for more info and examples of Whole Food Signatures.
